Many challenges facing the design and construction of this house, low budget, sustainable desire, but most of all schedules. The client, a young family of four, which is the site two weeks before the law will change setbacks and make the site unbuildable. The challenge is to design and submit a sustainable home that will accommodate them and there families who can then be added on as their families grow, before the change in legislation.

The second challenge is to accommodate the existing setback, protected old growth trees, septic drain fields, and buildings proposed / future site. A bar chart that seems simple to formulate a first draft, living / entertaining on the ground floor, private bedrooms upstairs. In the future as a family growing client third bar is designed to bridge over the living room. Understood as three masses (personal, living, utilitarian) and the three materials (wood, concrete / metal), River Bend Residence offers low mantainence natural light exterior and interior.

The river can be heard from 2400 sqft of exterior decks, as seen from the deck above. Forest surrounding the house be maintained to ensure the wildlife habitat and reduce the impact of homes on the site. Weeds and plants are installed locally in areas affected by construction. Displaying home-land on the hot geothermal loop and Desuperheater free water heater during the cooling season and reduce energy use during the heating season.
