It’s only two years past since the young Japanese designer Bunzo Ogawa based his future studio apartment in Hiroshima. Among his beginning plans ‘Wrap House’ a quite modeled single family residence is significant for its bright fusion of the open roof and the cut frontage which answers in a familiar shielded patio. It is grouping and wrapping the three components sunlight, wide feel and privations to enrich the living area.
The site is placed in an apartment residential after part in the Southwest of Hiroshima City. As the site is from whole sides bordered by houses, among which is in real time bordering the site edge, it was required to come up with the next architectural organization. To make a sparkling and wide area while protecting one’s privacy contempt the site’s limitations, a wall wraps about the good site making a ‘void’ on the north side while concerning the tolerated floor space ratio.
The north minded living space is covered by a terrace, which is placed contiguous to the parking zone while looking the street to the north. As an effect, sunlight shines into the void in the morning and a ‘sunlight well’ is made. A space dissimilar to the daytime emerges.
The outside void space is comprehended as an extension of the internal area, while the wrap-around wall is both protecting the privations of the mansion space versus the environment and making a roomy feeling. The sky can be seen from the bathroom on first floor, when the car can be overlooked from the master sleeping room.
